Grade 5 Computer Class: Climate Change

Today, we went on to Brain Pop and learned about our fragile environment. we watched a video on the green house effect.  The bad part of the green house effect is that it causes global warming because it traps the heat and it can't escape. also global warming is melting the north and south poles, causing the sea levels to rise.

Grade 5 Computer Class: Cyberbullying

My name is Michael.  Today in computer class we learned that cyberbullying is not okay. Spread the word out to everyone to try to stop the madness. We watched a video of KB getting bullyed by Melany.  Then we answered a survey about bullying in school.  We read about school rules on what not to do on the internet. On a website called mgruff.org we read about online safety and cyberbullying. It is important not to cyberbully because it is not nice and you can hurt someone's feelings.

Grade 5 Computer Class: Salem Witch Trials

During our last class we learned a lot about the Salem Witch Trials.  We broke up into groups of 4 and researched then presented some of the key "players" during this very difficult and uncertain time in our nation's history.  Some of those key people we learned about include Cotton Mather, Judge William Stoughton, Governor Sir William Phips, Reverand Samuel Parris, Tituba, and Ann Putnam Jr.  We discussed who were the heros and villains.  We talked about how this unfortunate chain of events occurred - jealousies, hard economic conditions, teenage boredom, congregational strife.
